Michael Walsh and Friends

Classical guitarist Michael Walsh has concertized extensively on the North Coast and in the Bay Area as a soloist and with the Humboldt Guitar Quartet. An award-winning guitarist, he has performed with the Humboldt Symphony Orchestra and the San Francisco Conservatory Orchestra.

This concert will include Spanish classics for solo guitar as well as duets with violin and saxophone. The program will feature compositions by Villa-Lobos and Terry Riley and a guitar-accompanied reading of Pulitzer Prizewinner Juan Ramón Jimenéz' Platero y Yo, a tender story of a man and his beloved donkey. Michael Walsh will be joined by Cindy Moyer, violin; Virginia Ryder Ayoob, saxophone; and Ben Tankersley, narrator.
