Guitarist Max Zuckerman, a San Francisco high school senior, has been inspired by the performances of John Williams and Jimi Hendrix.
Max performs on classical guitar as a soloist and as a member of a quartet. He also plays viola in the school orchestra. He has studied guitar for eleven years with Scott Cmiel and performed in numerous master classes.
In addition to performing at the S.F. Conservator of Music, Max has performed in the Junior Bach Festival at Berkeley, won the 1998 Menuhin-Dowling competitions, and has been a featured performer on the PBS radio program "From the Top.' In 2002,he won third prize in the Portland Guitar Festival Solo Competition. Also in 2002 at the American String Teachers' Association Max won First Prize in his division and also the Grand Prize for all string instruments in his division. Governor Gray Davis has named him a California Arts Scholar.
In his free time he enjoys the electric guitar, skateboarding, and painting.
