Humboldt Time

The jazz ensemble Humboldt Time has been performing in Redway for several years. The three core members of the group -- Jimmy Durchslag, trombone; Michael Curran, drums; and Jim Wilde, guitar, have been playing together in various ensembles for over 20 years. For this performance they will be joined by Geof Daugherty, bass; Sam Maez, trumpet; and Randy Ruland, vocals. These musicians all perform in various groups throughout the county.

Humboldt Time's program will feature straight-ahead jazz, classic jazz, and time-honored compositions as well as hidden treasures of jazz. The presentation will celebrate jazz innovators,: John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington, and others. Latin grooves by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Luis Bonfa will also highlight the diverse history and development of jazz.

True to the spirit of jazz, the main thrust will be joyous, fun, inspiring music with emphasis on improvisation and the spontaneous creativity of each performer that will make everyone feel good.
