Jill Petricca

Jill Petricca, flutist, began experiencing music through her father, the late music educator, musician and composer, Richard Stroud. She graduated from Eureka High School and received her BA from HSU.

No newcomer to the Fortuna Concert Series, Jill has performed as a member of the Humboldt Ragtime Band since 1996 and recently performed for the concert series with Fred Tempas, tuba. Jill and pianist Dana Christen are currently collaborating and enjoy performing as a duo. Dana and other guest artists will join Jill in this concert.

As a professional flute instructor, Jill feels that teaching the flute has been a tremendous growth experience.

Jill's selections for the evening feature the music that inspires her life: traditional classical melodies of Mozart, Massenet and Vaughan Williams; modern works of Copland, Harbison and Ellington; and newly-composed works commissioned especially to challenge and motivate artists in their musical lives.
